Saturday 19th July 2025
The Feast of the Redeemer is one of the most heartfelt festivities in the city of Venice.
According to tradition, at sunset the boats, illuminated and decorated with branches and balloons, begin to stream into St Mark's Basin and the Giudecca Canal.
The fireworks display starts at 23.30 and lasts until well after midnight. Games of light and reflections colour the sky and illuminate the city's canals, domes and bell towers, making the night truly magical, enchanting all spectators.
It is celebrated every year on the third Saturday in July to commemorate the end of the plague epidemic of 1575-1577.
